This writer will always, always claim that Owen's 'Black Hart' persona could have been money for WWE had they capitalised on it. Fresh off seeing D-Generation-X help run his brother Bret out of the organisation, Owen targeted Shawn Michaels and promised to make him pay for his crimes. It was potentially thrilling television.

It also wasn't the plan, so WWE moved on quickly.

Ken Shamrock was randomly plucked from the mid card and installed as 'HBK's title challenger at In Your House: D-Generation-X instead. That was a missed opportunity, and it wasn't the first time Owen had been cruelly overlooked. Earlier, Michaels had referred to him as a nugget of sh*t that wouldn't quite flush down the toilet bowl.

When this should have been motivation for Hart to rise up and face the reigning champ, he was instead programmed against Triple H for the European Title (more on that later). By effectively calling Owen a useless piece of crap, DX spoiled his coming out party.
