Welcome to the latest example of ego running wild.

Recent reports reveal that Shane McMahon tried to rebook the 2022 Royal Rumble match at the last possible second. This, no-one will be surprised to learn, upset a fair few WWE agents and creative team members behind the scenes. Shane supposedly didn't care - he was going to get his way.

McMahon entered at the #28 spot and did the following: Shane battered ex-UFC man Riddle with rabbit punches, threw Kevin Owens out of the match, then went after Brock Lesnar before eventually being eliminated. His five minutes in the match proved to be some ego trip.

What more did he want?! Did Shane honestly think that winning the Rumble, or being one of the final two with Brock, was the way to go? Whatever his plan was, it'd cost him. Vince "quietly released" his son from contract a few days after the pay-per-view.

Oops.
