10 Times Hulk Hogan Was The Worst Babyface Ever

1. The Royal Strop - Royal Rumble 1992

Hulk's antics at the 1992 edition of the Royal Rumble are a prime example of how the Hulkster couldn’t stand others getting the better of him - even if they did so 100% fairly.

The Rumble match is famously built around about every competitor being out for themselves, although seemingly nobody ever told Hulk Hogan about this.

Going into the ’92 Rumble – a Rumble match that many view as the greatest Rumble match in company history – Hogan had been victorious in the previous two Royal Rumble contests. With the WWF Title on the line for the victor of this multi-man battle, Hulk and his skullet had championship gold in their sights.

Unfortunately for said skullet, Hulk’s dreams of becoming a five-time WWF Champion came to an end that night courtesy of Sid Justice.

At this point in time, let’s remember that Sid was a babyface. In his short time with the company, Justice had been the white knight who saved Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth from The Undertaker and Jake Roberts during Savage and Liz’s infamous wedding reception. Having been on the shelf with a bicep injury, Sid’s return came at #29 in the Rumble match - and from there he followed the objective of the match and tossed Savage and Hulk Hogan over the top rope.

In a total d*ck move that had spoilt teenager vibes aplenty, Hogan proceeded to bitch and moan as he began to pull Sid over the top. A quick helping hand from Ric Flair, and Sid’s shot at winning the Rumble was gone.

Once described as the Swiss Army Knife of WhatCulture, Andrew can usually be found writing, editing, or presenting on a wide range of topics. As a lifelong wrestling fan, horror obsessive, and comic book nerd, he's been covering those topics professionally as far back as 2010. In addition to his current WhatCulture role of Senior Content Producer, Andrew previously spent nearly a decade as Online Editor and Lead Writer for the world's longest-running genre publication, Starburst Magazine, and his work has also been featured on BBC, TechRadar, Tom's Guide, WhatToWatch, Sportkskeeda, and various other outlets, in addition to being a Rotten Tomatoes-approved film critic. Between his main dayjob, his role as the lead panel host of Wales Comic Con, and his gig as a pre-match host for Wrexham AFC games, Andrew has also carried out a hugely varied amount of interviews, from the likes of Robert Englund, Kane Hodder, Adrienne Barbeau, Rob Zombie, Katharine Isabelle, Leigh Whannell, Bruce Campbell, and Tony Todd, to Kevin Smith, Ron Perlman, Elijah Wood, Giancarlo Esposito, Simon Pegg, Charlie Cox, the Russo Brothers, and Brian Blessed, to Kevin Conroy, Paul Dini, Tara Strong, Will Friedle, Burt Ward, Andrea Romano, Frank Miller, and Rob Liefeld, to Bret Hart, Sting, Mick Foley, Ricky Starks, Jamie Hayer, Britt Baker, Eric Bischoff, and William Regal, to Mickey Thomas, Joey Jones, Phil Parkinson, Brian Flynn, Denis Smith, Gary Bennett, Karl Connolly, and Bryan Robson - and that's just the tip of an ever-expanding iceberg.
