10. Jeff Hardy - WrestleMania XXIV
Heading into 2008, Jeff Hardy was finally ready to crack into the main event scene in WWE. Since his return to the company in the summer of 2006, he had been impressing everyone with his renewed professionalism and dedication, and with the exception of a single drug test failure, he was a model employee. As his performances improved, his position on the card rose. At the 2008 Royal Rumble, he challenged Randy Orton for the WWE Championship, and while he came up short it was clear that great things were on the horizon for the rainbow-haired warrior. Hardy was the final man pinned in an Elimination Chamber match the following month, and soon afterwards he qualified for WrestleMania XXIV's Money in the Bank ladder match. Many considered him the favourite to win, but in March he was suspended for 60 days as a result of a second breach of WWE's Wellness Policy. Hardy missed WrestleMania entirely, with resulted in CM Punk's first MITB victory. The former WWE World Tag Team Champion returned in May and, luckily, his push was waiting for him. In December, Hardy became WWE Champion and the following year he engaged in a classic feud with Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship. It was all roses for Jeff, but he still missed the biggest show of the year, a big payday and a huge win due to his non-compliance.
