10 Times Shawn Michaels Dragged His Opponents To A Good Match
8. Justin “Hawk” Bradshaw (Superstars, September 1996)
Let’s be honest here….. JBL is a bit of a d*ck.
John “Bradshaw” Layfield has p*ssed a lot of people off in the last two decades. Wether it be through backstage bullying or unnecessarily stiff in-ring work, Layfield never seemed to have an issue making enemies. It's interesting to take a look at Bradshaw before he earned himself such a poor reputation, when he was still a young upstart.
Let’s turn back the clock about 22 years, to a hidden gem of a match between Shawn Michaels and a younger JBL, wrestling as Justin “Hawk” Bradshaw on a taped episode of WWF Superstars.
Bradshaw’s trademark (and often maligned) stiffness is immediately noticeable early on in the match, with his big boots and clotheslines resonating a bit too much. However, Shawn shakes it off and proceeds to deliver the performance of a lifetime. Quite literally bumping all over the place, he pulls out his entire arsenal to try and make this match interesting, and boy did it work.
To watch this match back again and realise that these are the type of superhuman performances Shawn Michaels churned out every single night, it becomes more obvious why he was forced to retire in early 1998.
