10 Times Shawn Michaels Dragged His Opponents To A Good Match
7. Mr Kennedy (Monday Night RAW, January 2008)
Mr Kennedy could have been a huge star, and had all the tools to be one.
His entrance antagonised the crowd like no one else’s, his narcissism instantly made him a must-see act and the dude had management behind him, something you don’t see too often today. However, a common drawback about Ken that most fans can agree on is that he wasn’t nearly as up-to-par in the ring as some of his colleagues, and that sentence proved to be true for most of his WWE tenure. The rare exceptions? Shawn Michaels of course.
Michaels and Kennedy had a series of great matches from late 2007 to early 2008, but their match on RAW in January 2008 was the best.
The last RAW before the Royal Rumble, fans were eager to see Michaels in action, and Kennedy proved to be his ideal adversary.
The match itself was immensely entertaining with Kennedy playing the classic heel, dodging Michaels’ superkicks in brazen acts of cowardice. A particularly spectacular spot came when Michaels performed a rare over-the-top-rope suicide senton onto the outside where Kennedy stood, dazed.
This match was more proof that Michaels could make his opponent look fantastic on any occasion, wether it be an insignificant RAW or a high-profile WrestleMania match.
