To say “Shawn Michaels and Tatanka had the best match at WrestleMania IX” isn’t anything impressive. It’s like saying you beat all your friends in a test but still failed, or that you were the best in-ring performer in the New World Order. It might sound cool, but in reality it’s nothing great.

It does need to be expressed just how good Shawn Michaels vs Tatanka was. Tatanka had been undefeated until that point and was enjoying arguably the best stint of his career. Meanwhile, Michaels was at his prime d*ckheadery, and everyone wanted to see Tatanka extend his undefeated streak by annihilating Michaels, and take his Intercontinental Championship with him.

The match itself was arguably the best of Tatanka’s career, as Michaels pulled out his entire arsenal of high-flying moves only to be caught and slammed by the challenger at every opportunity.

The match was unfortunately hampered by it’s disqualification finish, as it was the only way to keep Tatanka’s undefeated alive while also keeping the title on Michaels. Nevertheless, it proved to the world that Tatanka could be golden under the right circumstances.
