Sycho Sid’s character was iconic. His scraggly blond hair, the menacing walk and his eerie theme song all contributed to his iconic character that he carried with him to ECW, WCW and the WWF. But let’s be honest here, he was sh*t in the ring.

Unfortunately, Sid gained notoriety due to his seeming inability to move his arms and legs enough to put on a wrestling match. Okay, maybe I’m being harsh here, but Sid had gained a reputation for consistently putting on poor matches, and although he was a hard worker, he didn’t do anything to prove the critics wrong, until he won his first WWF Championship in a match that surprised every fan in attendance & around the world.

Against Shawn Michaels of course.

The match itself was a typical big man vs little man bout, with Sid using slams while Michaels practically bounced around the ring.Michaels received heaps of commendation for putting on such an amazing show, and it’s unlikely anyone else could have done it like he did.

While the match is now lost in Michaels’ sea of classics, it continues to be Sid’s best match to this day. It just stands as more proof that Michaels could put on a great match against literally anyone.
