This article is really opening my eyes to how many terrible secondary champions there have been in WWE. I don't care what anyone says, Honky Tonk Man is flat out one of the worst Intercontinental Champions in the history of the title. Sure, he held the belt for approximately forever, but that doesn't automatically make him a good champion.

Again, you can count the number of good Honky matches on one finger. That match came at WrestleMania III, against none other than Jake 'The Snake' Roberts. It was the match that existed purely for the celebrity appearance, as Alice Cooper accompanied newly-babyface Roberts to the ring for the match.

This is all about that appearance of course, but that shouldn't really take away from the performance of the two men inside the ring. Jake was a master of the build, we all know this, and working opposite a serious opponent in a serious match with just enough colour works wonders for Honky.

Far and away the best match of his WWF career, Honky even pulls out the win by rolling up Roberts and using the ropes for leverage.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
