10 Times Terrible Wrestlers Put On Great Matches

7. The Barbarian (Vs. Big Boss Man) - Royal Rumble 1991

Royal Rumble 1991 is a hugely underrated show. It features the best tag team opener in WWE history (The Rockers vs. Orient Express), a heartbreaking title loss for The Ultimate Warrior, and the beginning of Virgil being super over for nine months. Sure, The Mountie vs. Koko B. Ware sucked balls, but we can't have it all.

The undercard also featured a continuation of Big Boss Man's conveyer-belting of the Heenan Family, ahead of a WrestleMania VII showdown with Mr. Perfect. He came up against The Barbarian here, a man who came across as though he should be a decent worker but was pretty much awful whenever he stepped into the ring.

Not here however. Everything came together in this match, and we got a hoss battle that slips through the memory of far too many people. Barbarian brought his working boots and then some, but most the quality of this match is down to just how good Boss Man was at this point in his career.

Boss Man survives a jumping piledriver only to reverse a Barbarian crossbody from the top (?!) for the win.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
