10 Times The AEW Locker Room Must Have Been VERY Awkward
9. When Barbed Wire Everywhere Ended
Reports emerged overnight, from Dave Meltzer, that Eddie Kingston was recently suspended by AEW for a "verbal dispute" with Sammy Guevara. Fightful provided additional details, having "heard" that Sammy body-shamed Kingston, in retaliation to which Eddie threw a strike in his direction.
It was weird that neither man had appeared on television to build their match at All Out, and that nobody noticed, but then, that's another suboptimal byproduct of the bloated roster. With so much else to focus on, was yet another midcard rivalry missed, exactly? Given Kingston's cult hero status, that is some indictment. Dynamite is on a great run, and has been for a month, but it's always flawed in some way.
Kingston issued the All Out challenge to Guevara on the August 3 Dynamite following the events of Barbed Wire Everywhere on July 20. He hasn't appeared on TV since. Whether the raw heat of the moment drove the conflict, or simmering resentment mutated a fortnight later, it must have stemmed from the omni-botched finish of Barbed Wire Everywhere. Between them, Kingston and Guevara looked like fools, and it seems likely that both blamed the other in the aftermath.
In an unaired promo, Guevara was purported to have made a dig at Kingston's physique, which led to the physicality.
