10 Times The Main Event Was The Worst Match On A WWE Show
1. Seth Rollins Vs The Fiend (Hell In A Cell 2019_
Where to start with this one? Well, perhaps a measure of sympathy for Seth Rollins and Bray Wyatt, two majorly talented performers who were hamstrung with muddled gimmicks, dreary storyline motivations, and one of the most hated match finishes in WWE history.
Rollins has been a great champion during his several runs with the top belts, but fans were beginning to turn on him by the end of this babyface angle. The Fiend was fresh and new, an exciting if hammy character, and in Hell In A Cell he could surely push Rollins to his very limits.
Instead, we were given a total mess. Bathed in red light that instantly rendered the match hard to watch, this was 15 minutes of finisher spamming, no-selling, and cartoonish weapons use. It gets worse, though. Rollins, desperate to inflict damage on his supernatural foe, piles junk on Wyatt, hits him with a sledgehammer - and gets disqualified.
Needless to say, this didn’t go down well. The already-irate fans made their increased displeasure known, demanding refunds and chanting for AEW. This was once the match where anything goes. Now, it’s an annual excuse to construct a big red cage to make the viewing experience slightly worse.
