9. Completely Reworking His In-Ring Act (1996)

Part of the problem in those aforementioned matches admittedly came from The Undertaker himself. Before 1996, his in-ring style was often slow and deliberate, not lending itself well to exciting collisions at all. Then in '96, something changed, and match quality suddenly rocketed for the man.

On the surface, this may seem like something superficial, but it completely reworked The Undertaker's entire act. In the process, he was able to have better matches and become a more well-rounded asset to the then-WWF. All of a sudden, 'Taker went from being more renowned for his famous entrance routine, to having great contests against the likes of Mick Foley, Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart. 

This was one of the first occasions on which Mark Calaway put some fresh impetus into his career, and it was badly needed. Undertaker matches were sometimes plodding and pedestrian, but adding speed to his arsenal was like handing Vince McMahon and entirely new performer.
