For the longest time, people within WWE had attempted to pitch the idea of incorporating the infamous WarGames structure into one of the company's PPVs. However, Vince McMahon was simply having none of it, pushing back against the idea due to its undeniable association with WCW.

So, sensing that some of the elements that made WarGames such a revelation could be utilised in another arena, Triple H dreamed up the Elimination Chamber, stealing things like the two-minute intervals between each entering competitor.

Needless to say, the boss loved the concept and green-lit the Elimination Chamber, even allowing Eric Bischoff to wax on about how WarGames helped inspire the concept on Monday Night Raw.

Now while there's obvious differences between the two, such as WarGames being a battle between teams and the Chamber involving generally six stars fighting for a personal victory, it's still clear as day that 'The King of Kings' was taking what Dusty Rhodes so brilliantly brought to life in the '80s and giving it the sort of WWE spin he knew would fly with his father-in-law.
