10 Times Triple H Ripped Off Ideas

7. Connecticut Blueblood (Steven Regal)

Long before the pair were both ushering in the next generation on NXT, Triple H and William (then-Steven) Regal formed something of an alliance on WCW programming in the mid-90s. Now, the team itself wouldn't last very long at all, but there was one key reason why 'The Game' was paired with the British technician to begin with; Both of their characters fit together well, with Jean-Paul Lévesque feeling like a fairly obvious spin-off of his eventual partner Lord Steven Regal, seen by both wearing similar attire and speaking in heightened European accents...one more convincingly than the other.

Clearly taking a thing or two from Regal in the wake of his departure from WCW soon after, as Hunter Hearst Helmsley, the now 'Connecticut Blueblood' would adopt a British accent and began to hold himself like a certain Lord on the rival show.

This rip-off of Regal's original gimmick would pay dividends for a spell as Trips secured the Intercontinental Championship a year on from his WWE debut, later winning The King of the Ring tournament too. This 'Blueblood' was off to the races, but likely wouldn't have been on the track had it not been for Mr.Regal.
