10 Times Triple H’s Ego Ran Wild In WWE

6. Kurt & Steph

In mid-2000, not long after his reign as "Eurocontinental Champion," Kurt Angle aligned himself with Edge & Christian, won King Of The Ring, then entered a feud with Triple H. In what was designed to be the Olympian's springboard to the top, Kurt was originally to walk out of a love triangle storyline with Hunter's wife, Stephanie McMahon, on his arm, but 'The Cerebral Assassin' nixed those plans.

It was one of the better romance storylines WWE have put together over the years, but Triple H disagreed with the direction. He argued to Vince McMahon that nobody would believe that Stephanie would ever leave him for a man like Angle, whom he presumably thought was beneath him, and the Chairman came round to his way of thinking. Thus, 'The Game' wound up dominating the rest of the feud, and Stephanie returned to his side.

This made no sense within the context of the story. All the teases were for naught, and Kurt lost the feud, though he did become WWE Champion later. Still, has grand elevation would've made a lot more sense without the Triple H-shaped road bump.
