10 Times Triple H’s Ego Ran Wild In WWE

5. Pitiful Applause

Triple H with Triple H
WWE

Although Triple H lost to Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam 2012, the moment belonged to him, not 'The Beast Incarnate.'

Lesnar going over was the right decision. It was only his second match back after losing to John Cena at Extreme Rules, and he needed a rebound. He got it, but the moment belonged to Triple H, who decided he deserved a round of applause for his losing effort.

He didn't.

The match was deemed important enough to headline over a WWE Championship Triple Threat. It was fine, but nowhere near on the same level as Cena vs. Lesnar, which made Hunter's post-bout shenanigans all the more ridiculous.

Triple H stayed in the ring after the bell. It was a clear that he expected a standing ovation, but he waited, and waited... and waited. The applause eventually came, but it wasn't the hero's outro he'd expected. The crowd saw through him, and acted only out of pity, with Michael Cole dropping a solemn "you have to wonder if this is the end of Triple H" as he shambled up the ramp.

It was clearly designed to be a grand, emotional moment for Hunter, but it fell flat. Serves him right for hogging the glory.
