10 Times Triple H’s Ego Ran Wild In WWE
2. Politicking Punk
When CM Punk took to Colt Cabana's Art Of Wrestling podcast to spit fire at the WWE hierarchy months after his 2014 release, Triple H was among the biggest targets.
'The Voice Of The Voiceless' had major issues with 'The Game' throughout his run. It started early, with Punk hearing through the grapevine that Triple H wasn't fond of him. He noted that Triple H always looked at him sideways, and rarely communicated with him directly, though he didn't feel the full extent of his political clout until later in his run.
Punk alleged that Triple H actively worked to hold him back on several occasions, most notably in 2011. Hunter needlessly defeated WWE's biggest folk hero at Night Of Champions, sounding the Summer Of Punk's death-knell months after it had made him wrestling's hottest star. As Punk and Cabana noted, Triple H effectively came out of semi-retirement to beat 'The Voice Of The Voiceless,' then slunk back into it afterwards. Why? Because if Phil Brooks is to be believed, Paul Levesque couldn't handle the shine he was getting during what was unquestionably his career's hottest period.
