10 Times Triple H Was RIDICULOUSLY Selfish At WWE WrestleMania

2. I'm The Main Event, Brother!

There is much to admire about Triple H, beyond a CV his staunchest critics drastically underrate and his incredible stint as NXT figurehead, the very best of which is equal to the greatest creative achievements in industry history.

You must also admire his gigantic, brass balls. For the second time in his WrestleMania career, a far, far better match threatened to undermine his own - and, for the second time in his WrestleMania career, he felt himself capable of bettering it. This drive, this belief, is essential to the make-up of the man. It is also his undoing as a genuine great. Again: he is nothing if not an endlessly debatable paradox. The Undertaker Vs. Shawn Michaels was a classic - an absurdly gripping epic that influenced so much, for better and for worse, of the modern WWE product. Triple H Vs. Randy Orton, meanwhile, existed in a silent vacuum of tedium. What's even more daft is that the wider storyline demanded the sort of smoke and mirrors needed for the match to even approach the greatness of the real star attraction.

Instead, Triple H wrestled his methodical Triple H match, under the belief that it wouldn't bore everybody to tears.
