10 Times UFC Fighters Won In Defeat
6. Brock Lesnar (Vs. Alistair Overeem, UFC 141)
Throughout the majority of his first run as a UFC fighter from 2008-2011, Brock Lesnar was something of an indomitable beast.
Winning four of his first five fights and even becoming the UFC Heavyweight Champion after defeating the legendary Randy Couture, Lesnar's momentum was showing no signs of stopping.
That was until he went down with diverticulitis before his fight against Shane Carwin. Lesnar eventually returned to full fitness and defeated Carwin at UFC 116 - a year after his last title defence - but the first chink in his armour was there for the world to see.
Lesnar's mid-section couldn't take the pressures of professional MMA anymore and soon enough he fell to both Cain Velasquez (losing his title) and Alistair Overeem.
His loss to Overeem at UFC 141 in particular was the final nail in his coffin during this period as it was quite clear that - when targeted - his mid-section was a game-changing soft spot.
Yet, if Lesnar hadn't had his career obliterated by Overeem in such a destructive way then the door back into the world of WWE wouldn't have been re-opened and he wouldn't have been able to earn a ridiculous amount of money for very little work ever since 2012.
Yes, he did return to the Octagon in 2016, but less said about that no contest the better.
In short, if Overeem hadn't exposed Lesnar like he did, he wouldn't be anywhere near as minted as he is today.
