The main event of WrestleMania 27 saw John Cena challenging the WWE Champion while The Rock made his presence known as the host of the show. If you ask CM Punk, he probably should have been the WWE Champion because he felt like he was the best heel in the company, specifically the Raw brand, at the time. Instead, Vince McMahon chose to put the WWE Title on The Miz. There was nothing wrong with the rise of The Miz on the Raw brand in 2010 when he won the Money in the Bank briefcase as well as the WWE Title. He was a solid wrestler that was great upsetting the fans. However, CM Punk was clearly better. He was better from the moment they both entered WWE at around the same time. Punk had better matches, his 2009 year was arguably the best performance of anybody in WWE and his Straight Edge Society group in 2010 was very entertainer. The Miz was basically doing the same arrogant heel act we've seen in wrestling so many times in the past 30 years. Cena's match with The Miz was bad. It was one of the worst WrestleMania main events ever. There was a double countout, then a restart from The Rock and it didn't get better from there. Look at the matches that Punk had with Cena. They were some of the best matches of the last five years. Some might say that Cena vs. Punk was the best rivalry in that period too. It was special. When all is said and done, Punk will be seen as the bigger star than Miz. What's sad is that Punk never got to main event a WrestleMania even though he should have. Vince backed the wrong guy in this case.
