In an industry full of crazy, colourful characters, there's no-one crazier or more colourful than Vince McMahon. From his early years as the straight-laced announcer, through to the evil Mr. McMahon, and onto crazy grandad Vince that he is today, McMahon has often proved to be the most larger-than-life figure in an industry built on larger-than-life figures. Few people realise what a rags-to-riches tale the story of Vince McMahon is. He didn't meet his father, Vincent J. McMahon until he was twelve years old, and eventually he would join the elder McMahon's World Wide Wrestling Federation promotion. There was very little nepotism, however, and Vince had to prove himself. He began promoting regionally in Maine and worked in 1971, and it would be another ten years climbing the ladder before he proved to his father he was worthy of inheriting the family company. From there, Vince McMahon fought tooth and claw to turn the WWF into the international powerhouse it is today, fighting off Ted Turner, Eric Bischoff and even the United States government. Given all McMahon has been through in his life, it's almost understandable that he gets completely carried away from time to time.
