10 Times Vince McMahon HATED What He Was Seeing

4. The Hart Brothers Feud

1994's Bret vs. Owen Hart feud is one of the best examples of using a major star to enhance a lesser one. The matches they had at 'Mania X and SummerSlam that year remain essential, and they're deserving of their God-like status amongst fans who loved the vibes given by warring siblings (who could both wrestle their arses off).

Vinnie Mac wasn't a fan.

It wasn't that Vince didn't think Bret could pull the best from Owen, or that the younger Hart wasn't worthy of a heel push. It was more to do with the fact that McMahon didn't think fans would relate to the tale because "brothers don't fight". Bruce Prichard and Pat Patterson, both of whom probably thought they were being ribbed, couldn't believe it.

Despite thrilling fans around the globe, popping the boys backstage and earning rave reviews from all corners, Bret vs. Owen didn't satisfy the one man who mattered most. Vince couldn't fathom why siblings would want to hurt one another, and that affected his ability to invest in the story.
