10 Times Vince McMahon Humiliated WWE Champions

9. Treating CM Punk Like An Afterthought (2013)

Obviously, Phil 'CM Punk' brooks is no longer part of the WWE system. Since leaving in early-2014, the man has been very outspoken about his time employed by the juggernaut company, and it hasn't exactly been a glowing appraisal. In fact, Punk's overall feeling regarding his time in WWE seems to be one of bitterness, and he has said several unsavoury things about Vince McMahon, his daughter Stephanie, and Triple H. This is despite the fact he was the longest reigning WWE Champion of a generation. From November 2011 until January 2013, Punk reigned supreme as the titleholder. Throughout it all, he clearly never felt he was treated with as much respect as he deserved. The events of the 2013 Royal Rumble pay-per-view lend credence to Punk's point. In 2012, WWE had promoted a match between The Rock and John Cena at WrestleMania XXVIII. For 'Mania XXIX, the company were interested in a rematch. McMahon felt he needed something extra to add to the bout's appeal, so he decreed that The Rock would dethrone Punk as WWE Champion at the Rumble. After carrying the belt so well, and for such a long time, Punk was dispatched with relative ease by The Rock. From that point on, Punk's outlook really changed regarding his WWE career, and the clock started ticking down on his stint.
