10 Times Vince McMahon Lost His Damn Mind

3. WBF

A precursor to the XFL, the WBF was Vince McMahon's attempt to enter the world of professional bodybuilding in 1990.

Created as competition for the International Federation of Bodybuilders, the World Bodybuilding Federation became a reality in 1991, with the inaugural event taking place on 15 June that year.

Vince even went as far as to hire former Mr Universe, Tom Platz (who appeared in Total Rebuild alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger), as Director of Talent Development.

Overall, 13 competitors were signed to long-term contracts - many of which were earning more than their WWF counterparts. The WBF's primary 'BodyStar', Gary Strydom, for example, was reportedly given a three-year deal worth $400,000/annum - a fact that must have irked more than a few WWF Superstars.

Perhaps the most notable product to come out of the WBF (besides ICOPRO) was Lex Luger, who was originally signed to the brand in 1992. A motorcycle accident would derail his WBF debut, leading him to sign with the WWF upon his return to health.

Meanwhile, a failed attempt to sign bodybuilding legend Lou Ferrigno in 1992 proved to be the final straw. By mid 1993, the WBF was deflated and out of gas, closing its doors in for good in July.
