10 Times Vince McMahon Was Too Obsessed With Sex

7. Lita

This is not about the Matt Hardy/Lita/Edge love triangle. After horrendously mishandling Hardy's future following the difficult unravelling of his personal life in 2005, WWE weren't entirely at fault for capitalising on it with a storyline upon gaining the consent of all three to try and get some work out of the shoot.

It was the handling of the Lita character before and after this flashpoint that ages horribly in the unflinching light of some retrospective reappraisal.

To reset - she had previously been paired with Kane on-screen when he had "won" her from Hardy in a violent 2004 feud. We were informed that she was pregnant against her will (because WWE were willing to be implicit about rape in a storyline and pretend they weren't doing rape in a storyline all at the same time), before losing the baby brought the two together for real.

Turning on her rapist to side with Edge in the storylines was to be viewed as heel sh*t, as was her character's openness about (consensual) sex in her final year as a full-timer. Too easy to brush this off as "of the times", these were merely of the times in wrestling, which is to say about a decade behind the rest of the world.
