10 Times Vince McMahon's WWE Pet Projects Failed Him

5. Fandango

There was a time when Fandango was being sent over on media duty to the UK, appearing on Sky Sports as an ambassador for WWE. Hyping upcoming tours, he was a hot ticket for the briefest of periods. Unfortunately for the dancing man, such star appeal was limited in scope, and didn't last too long.

Much of Vince McMahon's fanfare over Fandango seemed to stem from the actions of fans on the Raw broadcast post-WrestleMania 29. On that show, Fandango had defeated Chris Jericho, a huge win for his career. Come Raw, fans were in a party mood, dancing and singing along with the man's infectious entrance music.

That caused a stir in WWE and McMahon felt like he could capitalise on the online interest to create a new star. This idea didn't last very long, either, as fan interest started to wane and WWE decided to stop featuring Fandango so heavily.

A unique entry on this list, Fandango didn't appear to be the kind of wrestler McMahon would put a whole load of focus on. For a short while, he did, but it didn't lead to much success for the wrestler overall.
