The disappointment was clear on Hulk Hogan's face as he handed the WWF Heavyweight Title to his opponent, he realised what the conclusion of WrestleMania VI signified. Vince McMahon believed that 'Hulkamania' was yesterday's news, and he was interested in promoting The Ultimate Warrior as Hulk's successor.

Heading into the new decade of the 90's, the WWF crowned Warrior as champion and decided to put full focus on making him the man. It was never destined to last, Warrior and McMahon clashed several times regarding money over the next few years. Meanwhile, Hogan dipped his toe back in after he was called upon to return to the promotion.

By 1992, Warrior was out of the picture for good. All in all, his time in the sun was remarkably brief, and he hadn't been able to properly supplant Hogan as the WWF's top star.

A return in 1996 was similarly short-lived, and it was obvious (to everyone aside from McMahon) that the company had moved on from the main event style Warrior was used to working.
