When it came to making a statement during the Monday Night Wars, few signings had the emphatic impact of The Radicalz in 2000. Comprising of Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, and Perry Saturn, the group had been unhappy in WCW for months and WWF pulled the ultimate coup by snatching the backbone of WCW’s future from right under their noses.

Perhaps the most important of all four signings was the acquisition of Chris Benoit. Having defeated Sid at the Souled Out PPV event just two weeks prior, Benoit was WCW Champion when he officially parted ways with Turner’s company the very next day. He never appeared on WCW television again and WCW were forced to vacate the title in his absence.

When Benoit made his WWF debut on the 31 January edition of Raw, it was common knowledge that 'The Crippler' was the unbeaten WCW Champion at the time. His first official match came on SmackDown later that week when the undefeated WCW Champ would go one-on-one with the current WWF Champ, Triple H, in a WCW vs. WWF dream match.

Sadly, the outcome would be predictably short-sighted, with Triple H pinning Benoit in the middle of the ring to immediately halt the potential feud in its tracks and once again "prove" to the world that WWF stars were far superior to anyone from WCW.
