The European Championship's stellar summer of 1999 continued just two months later, when the title once again changed hands on the whim of someone with power. The previous night at SummerSlam, Jeff Jarrett had defeated D'Lo Brown to become the new Intercontinental and European Championship.

He hadn't done it alone however, as 'Sexual Chocolate' Mark Henry turned his back on D'Lo and allowed his new charge to pick up the victory. His price? The European Championship. Jarrett and Henry (and Debra) took to the ring, where Jarrett proceeded to hand Mark Henry the European Championship.

What gave Jarrett the power to do this? He continued his gift-giving by introducing Miss Kitty as Debra's personal assistant. It was a good day to be a part of Jarrett Enterprise, but not the best day for the credibility of the European Championship.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
