10 Times Wrestlers Blew Out Their Quads

5. Steve 'Dr Death' Williams

Date: 1998

Dr. Death was a massive signing for the WWE. The brass hoped that with the proper build up and push, Steve Williams could eventually square off against Steve Austin in a title match at Wrestlemania. He had personal friend Jim Ross in his corner — success seemed all but assured.

But unfortunately, the WWE placed Williams in the Brawl For All, a shoot contest that, according to Jim Cornette, was the "stupidest thing" the WWE had ever done. According to JR, Williams tore his quad mid-fight, and ended up getting legitimately knocked by Bart Gunn. Williams' career never recovered, and his friendship with Ross was never the same.
