10 Times Wrestlers Botched Their Biggest Moment
5. Tori
Tori is an often overlooked member of Hall of Fame stable D-Generation X, and her place in WWE’s reintroduction of an actual women’s division is forgotten. After missing out on induction as part of DX, Tori is unlikely to enter the hallowed but hollow hall.
Tori fit the bodybuilder/fitness model mould that was desired at the time, in a division constructed around Sable and Sunny. She debuted as an obsessive Sable fan, but soon began playing face when her idol turned. The feud led to the two facing off at WrestleMania XV, easily the biggest opportunity of Tori’s career.
The five-minute match was slow and stilted with little to no wrestling technique on display. Both women’s signature go-to move was the Irish Whip. At the bout’s conclusion, a counter of the Sable Bomb was botched, but a debuting Nicole Bass soon provided a distraction and assisted Sable to the win.
Though it is hard to pinpoint and assign blame for the botches, Tori had a previous stint in the wrestling business between 1988 and 1993, which included competing in Japan. While both were presented as rookies, in reality, only Sable was.
