10 Times Wrestlers Fooled You Into Thinking They Were Someone Else
1. Eric Bischoff As The Priest
Eric Bischoff’s career in professional wrestling has seen him go from lowly salesman in the AWA, right up to Executive Vice President of WCW. However, perhaps his most interesting role came as General Manager of Raw.
In the hot seat of GM every Monday night, Bischoff went from breaking breeze blocks on Jim Ross’ head and kissing Stephanie McMahon to taking a whooping from Steve Austin and, worse still, a particularly fishy Bronco Buster from Mae Young. Despite all of those memorable scenarios, one of the most beloved moments of his entire run as GM was his role in the Billy and Chuck wedding ceremony.
The climax of a long-running love angle between Billy and Chuck, the storyline would come to a head with the two supposedly gay tag partners tying the knot on Smackdown. The man overseeing the ceremony was a stuttering, old priest that, in a stroke of booking genius, was unveiled to be none other than Raw GM, Eric Bischoff.
Tearing off the rubber mask of geriatric skin, Bischoff was masterful in the role of undercover infiltrator. The revelation was superbly done. The segment culminated in Bischoff’s henchmen - the late Rosie and Jamal - rushing the ring and taking out everything that moved. With a sea of destruction in their wake, Bischoff stood tall, once again outsmarting his Smackdown competition.
