10 Times Wrestlers Hit Their Finisher In A TV Show
5. The Rock - Star Trek: Voyager
Running for seven long, long years between 1995 and 2001, Star Trek: Voyager was an exercise in feckless mediocrity in the form of a television show. Neither terrible nor actually any good, it demonstrated what can truly be accomplished if you just show up and don’t try very hard. It’s the televisual equivalent of working for an insurance company.
Presumably because both WWF SmackDown (as it was back in the day) and Voyager were on the same channel, season six gave us a crossover episode, booking an appearance from the most electrifying man in sports entertainment to play - can you guess? - an alien gladiator on the show.
Star Trek fight scenes usually involve a slow-paced combination of three different moves repeated over and over until someone falls asleep, so this was a refreshing change of pace, featuring four, maybe even five moves and some light jogging.
Playing a Pendari warrior, the make-up for which involved gluing a Mars Bar to the forehead, The Rock faced off against former Borg drone Seven Of Nine, delivering not only the People’s Eyebrow but also a Rock Bottom.
Although back then he was a long way from becoming Hollywood’s biggest movie star, Dwayne Johnson was fortunate to find himself sharing the screen with charisma-vacuum Jeri Ryan, and therefore comes across like Marlon Brando by comparison: a lesson he took to heart when agreeing to join Vin Diesel’s Fast & Furious franchise.
