10 Times Wrestlers Hit Their Finisher In A TV Show
6. Sting - Walker Texas Ranger
Walker, Texas Ranger was a family-oriented action adventure show that ran from 1993 to 2001 on CBS starring middle-aged karate legend Chuck Norris. The absolute best that could be said about it was that it could have been worse, although it’s not altogether clear how.
By season eight in 2001, Norris was a sketchy memory of the star he used to be, still a good four or five years away from becoming an online sensation with those Chuck Norris Facts memes. Those of you from the younger generation reading this probably thought he was fictional, like Bobby Lashley’s personality. Well, think again!
It takes some real doing to outdo Norris as the worst thing on his own show. However in April 2001, ‘Unsafe Speed’, one of the last episodes of Walker, Texas Ranger to air, unleashed one of the sh*ttiest performances by a pro wrestler ever seen on television.
Steve ‘Sting’ Borden plays meth kingpin and bandanna-clad biker Grangus, delivering every godawful line as though suffering stage fright in his high school play. If the mission was to make Chuck ‘Wood Face’ Norris look like Daniel Day Lewis by comparison, then congratulations Stinger: mission accomplished.
Here he lets Norris no-sell the Scorpion Death Drop. Christ.
Yes, Hulk Hogan also appeared in an earlier episode. No, he didn’t drop the leg on anyone, so let us never speak of it again.
Also: Grangus? What’s a Grangus? It sounds like it needs draining by a medical professional, whatever it is. Get some antibiotics for that Grangus.
