10 Times Wrestlers Quit Before Major PPVs

There have been lots of stories reported online over the years where issues escalate and wrestlers end up being not overly happy with various promoters and promotions. So much so they will threaten to straight-up quit the company they’re working for with little notice if they’re top tier talent.

Some tactically wait out the time remaining on their contracts, letting them expire. Some quit suddenly and walk away. Neville (PAC) walked out on WWE after they booked him to once again lose to Enzo Amore.

Dean Ambrose left WWE just before WrestleMania 35 (a card at one time he was expected to wrestle his Shield comrade Roman Reigns in a featured match) after his frustration with WWE creative reached a boiling point.

Cody Rhodes, sick and tired of the Stardust gimmick WWE refused to let him drop, give up on the No. 1 promotion in the world and went on to create AEW.

Politics, creative disputes and money are all leading factors for wrestlers in leaving promotions.

Every big-time company, at one time or another, from WWE to WCW to ECW, has had to deal with a wrestler abruptly quitting before a big event. Let's run through some of the more prominent examples...
