AEW's Paul Wight doesn't look like he did the last time you saw him on TV.

Paul Wight is 54 years old, but feels like he's close to getting into the best ring shape of his life.

The artist formerly known as WWE's Big Show hasn't been around AEW television much lately. During his time away, Wight has been working hard in the gym to shift some weight and prove that he could be an asset to Tony Khan's company between the ropes. A pic posted to Paul's official Instagram page certainly suggests that he's taking this seriously.

Now, The Wrestling Observer has collated quotes from Wight's appearance on reporter Chris Van Vliet's show earlier this year. There, Paul said he has no interest in embarrassing himself or anyone else by stinking up the joint in crummy matches. So, he's doing everything he can to get in the best condition possible.

"So that’s what all this hard work now is. OK, what’s the one thing that I can really control? That’s conditioning and weight".

Wight has wrestled just 7 times for AEW since signing with the promotion back in 2021, but he has worked as a commentator, does community outreach gigs, and acts as an ambassador for Khan's group in the media. Of course, he still dreams of stepping into the ring more often, and has specifically named both Kenny Omega and Darby Allin as ideal opponents.

Could this actually happen? Don't rule it out. To his credit, Paul has dropped weight to 380lbs, and he's gunning for a cool 350lbs in the future. That'd take a lot of stress away from the one time WCW behemoth's legs, and theoretically make it easier for the giant to move around.
