Austin Aries' WWE departure a couple of months back came as something of a surprise to some, but it really shouldn't have - considering that he spent the immediate aftermath of his Extreme Rules defeat staring down the camera with the crazed intensity of, well, Randy Orton.

At the time, you could have perhaps put this down to excellent character work - maybe he had been studying Jinder Mahal, whose facial expressions are practically Oscar-worthy - but, given the events that followed, it's pretty clear that there was something else weighing on his mind.

Whatever the case, Aries' near-psychopathic disappointed face is the stuff of children's nightmares, and it probably did more to raise the Cruiserweight Championship's credibility than anything else in the last 12 months.
