10 Times Wrestlers Went Too Far
2. Shawn Michaels And Chris Jericho Get Too Bloody
Undoubtedly taking its place as one of the finest programmes WWE have ever committed to their product, it's often forgotten how Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels' stellar 2008 feud actually led to a largely frustrating rule being brought into place for those plying their trade in Vinnie Mac's empire.
With the two all-round legends ramping up the drama in their Great American Bash brawl by having The Heartbreak Kid indulge in a touch of blading mid-bout, the effectiveness of the crimson mask produced by Michaels actually had a bit of a jarring impact on the boss.
Instead of celebrating the warring veterans' brilliance in the squared-circle, McMahon was said to have decreed "We’re done. No more blood," in response to HBK's savage blade work.
Sure enough, not long after that, HBK and Le Champion's need to push their rivalry into more dramatic territory and the blading ban that followed it would lead to Batista being heavily fined for cutting himself in a steel cage match against Jericho.
A change was clearly coming with the switch over to all things PG, but this Jericho/Michaels showdown no doubt sped up the blade-less process.
