10 Times Wrestlers Were HORRIBLE To Fans

8. CM Punk Goes Off In Chicago

Ultimate Warrior
AEW

CM Punk is a living contradiction of a man, and he proved it on the August 31, 2022 Dynamite.

This was the All Out '22 go-home show. Jon Moxley dropped an open contract for a World title match in the middle of the ring, Ace Steel picked it up, and ordered Punk to sign it at the top of the hour.

Fans know now that Punk had endured a difficult summer, rehabbing a "pulverised" foot with the curtains drawn and - quite possibly - practising his presser promo in his mirror with Jack Torrance's thousand yard stare. He'd shown fans a glimpse of his headspace by calling out Hangman Page.

Something was wrong, but nobody knew the full extent of it. Re-watch the footage now, and it's everywhere.

The idea was for Punk to cut a local hero rah-rah speech to drive buys for the pay-per-view. He paid tributes to the resolve shown by the down-on-their-luck Chicagoans who always find a way to fight back, and this would have been considerably more effective had he not called one of them fat.

As Punk told his story, he was heckled by a fan, who Punk fat-shamed. "I love Chicago and everybody in it. Except you, fat boy!"

Punk's sheepish "...probably shouldn't have said that" was very funny, mind.
