10 Times Wrestlers Were Literally Given Championships

5. Ric Flair (WCW World Heavyweight Title)

The year 2000 marked the beginning of the third millennium (AD) and Vince Russo celebrated Y2K by passing the WCW World Championship around like a party joint.

After making Jeff Jarrett a four-time champion in little over a month, the Big Gold Belt was now in the hands of Kevin Nash, who had defeated Jarrett legitimately for the title he had originally pilfered from him, merely a day earlier.

Nash was the seventh different champion of the year - and it was only May.

Clearly Russo didn't think much of the WCW Championship and by this point, neither did Nash.

Despite having gone through a No Holds Barred match to win his third world title, Nash was feeling remorseful.

Downtrodden that Flair had been unjustly stripped of the title two weeks earlier, Nash decided to hand the championship back to the Nature Boy.

While Flair's 16 reigns as world champion are oft-mentioned, it's probably best forgotten that his 16th was given to him as an act of charity... and that he lost it back to Jarrett later in the evening.

The WCW world title would change hands 19 times in 2000, with David Arquette and Russo himself sharing in the spoils.
