10 Times Wrestling Companies Had To Apologise To Fans
3. Bash At The Beach 2000's World Title Match Is Erased
The 2000 edition of WCW's Bash at the Beach PPV saw one of the company's most infamous moments take place.
With WCW World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett due to defend Big Gold against Hulk Hogan, audiences were treated to the bizarre sight of Double J literally lying down for Hogan to pin. Never one to shy away from adding another W to his numbers, brother, the Hulkster placed a foot on Jarrett and pinned him.
That was followed up by Hulk cutting a promo about WCW being in such bad shape because of BS like this, and those words were responded to by Vince Russo later in the night. Russo would 'shoot' on Hogan, claiming the Hulkster had played his creative control card to get a political win over Jarrett, bro - the result of which was the Chosen One lying down for Hogan.
As a way to make amends for this sham World Title match, Russo instead delivered a new main event of Jeff Jarrett defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Booker T later in the night. Not content with that, Vinny Ru then fired Hulk Hogan.
Years later, it would be revealed that the (Vic) venom spouted between Hogan and Russo was intended to be part of a worked-shoot where Hulk would return to the promotion down the line. Instead, it resulted in Hogan filing a lawsuit against Russo and Time Warner, and he'd never step foot in a WCW ring again.
