10 Times Wrestling Companies Had To Apologise To Fans
4. Tony Khan Apologises For Social Media Hype
Many have thrown plentiful shade Tony Khan's way for overhyping certain moments and announcements since All Elite Wrestling was formally founded two years ago.
Of course, most recent on this front was how AEW positioned the mystery signee reveal and the Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match that we saw at AEW Revolution this month. Christian is one of the greatest in-ring workers and minds of his generation, and Kenny Omega vs. Jon Moxley was a brilliantly, brutally executed story - but many fans left that PPV disappointed that there was no CM Punk and no giant explosion to cap off the show.
Going back to October 2019, though, and Tony Khan actually took to Twitter to offer an apology of sorts for the AEW social media team - specifically "Jeff" - overhyping an announcement as big a huge deal. Said announcement was the promotion revealing new Florida dates for Dynamite tapings, which led to a mild backlash of shrugged 'meh' from those expecting something bigger with this reveal.
Elsewhere, though, Khan has had to offer some genuine apologies over some very real teething problems AEW has had across its two-year tenure.
Just this month TK had to apologise to international fans due to problems with Bleacher Report's streaming of the AEW Women's Eliminator Tournament - which he swiftly made available for free on YouTube - and this follows numerous times where Tony has had to address streaming problems or glitches with Dynamite and online programming.
