10 Times Wrestling Opened The Forbidden Door

2. XPW Invades ECW

The Forbidden Door wasn't so much opened here as barged through rather pathetically.

XPW owed everything to ECW. Its very existence, in fact; XPW was the Godsmack to ECW's Alice In Chains, the Creed to its Pearl Jam, the Seth Rollins Knee to its Kenny Omega V-Trigger. It was a knockoff that failed to grasp what was ECW's real appeal. ECW wasn't just the alternative. It was several mainstream alternatives drenched in one blood-soaked, pan-genre package. XPW was the oxymoronic copy of an alternative, attracting only the sociopathic fringes of the pro wrestling fandom to it charmless ultra-violent garbage. Think how bad you'd have to be, Jesus Christ.

In a presumed bid to prove that it was none more extreme, Rob Black's band of ungrateful cheeky f*ckers invaded Heat Wave 2000. It was an invasion and it wasn't an invasion. Those six chancers didn't do anything; they just sat in the front row wearing XPW merch. But they knew by doing nothing they were doing something. And by doing something, they were ejected and promptly whaled on backstage.

The publicity stunt worked. It's still being written about 21 years later. And if Rob Black wanted attention, here it is: you're a piece of sh*t.
