10 Times Wrestling Was Electrifying
6. Goldust's Stutter
That Vince McMahon and his wacky sense of humor.
Only the WWE would run an angle in which a wrestler - already dejected after losing a tag title match - was then assaulted by two heels, thrown into an exposed electrical box, and carted away on a stretcher.
Cut to three weeks later, and in a serious sitdown interview with JR, Goldust begins stuttering.
But not just a stutter. It was a herky-jerky, exaggerated, almost seal-like bark as baffling as it was offensive. Was there some sort of contest to see if a WWE writer could top WCW's Oklahoma gimmick as the dirt worst?
The other most remarkable thing about the gimmick was its longevity. The original angle happened in 2003, and Goldust was still occasionally "stuttering" in 2010 in segments with Yoshi Tatsu!
