10 Times WWE Accidentally Brought Awful Gimmicks Back From The Dead

4. Lance Storm & Steve Blackman

Note to WWE writers: your job is to get wrestlers over, not put them down. Unfortunately, no one told that to whoever was writing for Steve Blackman and Lance Storm.

Steve and Lance were both pigeon-holed as being dishwater dull. Blackman's lack of personality formed the basis of his tag team with Al Snow, as Al would frequently poke fun of his partner being a charisma black hole. Things were even worse for Lance, who had to suffer the indignity of watching Steve Austin himself pretending to sleep on the entrance ramp during one of his matches (Austin had helpfully shouted "Boring!" before doing so, lest WWE's subtle wit be lost on the audience).

Telling your audience to tune out whenever a particular wrestler appears is never a good idea, and it was especially egregious in the case of Lance Storm. Lance was one of the finest technical wrestlers of his generation and he could have turned WWE's midcard scene into a genuine highlight, much like WCW's cruiserweight division had been.

Sadly it was not to be. Still at least WWE learned its lesson and never again mocked its own wrestlers for their lack of charisma, right?

Yeah, about that...
