10 Times WWE Best Used Blood

1. Bret Hart Vs. Steve Austin (WrestleMania 13)

Steve Austin likely would have become a huge babyface star with or without his submission match with Bret Hart at ‘Mania 13, but few moments are as iconic as Austin screaming as blood rushed down his face whilst locked in Hart's sharpshooter.

And while Bret’s importance in making Austin a major star varies depending on who you ask, Austin certainly has Bret to thank for the blood. Apparently having never bladed before (not strictly true), Austin asked Bret to do it for him, to which Bret obliged. Bret made a beautiful cut on Austin’s bald head, and what was already a fun, heated brawl became a gritty, dirty affair. It’s Jim Cornette’s WWF match of all time, saying it would have fit perfectly at an '80s Starrcade, and it’s hard to disagree with that sentiment.

Austin passing out in a pool of his own blood was one of the starting points of the most successful era in the company’s history, and for that, the match is an all-time great example of WWE utilizing blood.
