10 Times WWE Best Used Blood

2. Brock Lesnar Vs. John Cena (Extreme Rules 2012)

Brock. Lesnar. Busted. Open. John. Cena’s. Head. With. His. Elbows. Talk about a way to return.

Many of you will recall that Brock also busted Randy Orton open hard way to cap off SummerSlam 2016. However, unlike that match, which was used to limply end the show, Brock bust open the leader of the Cenation within the first few seconds of their match at Extreme Rules 2012. Once again, it’s an example of blood being doubly effective in an era when it’s so-rarely seen. Even more shocking is seeing John Cena, who by that point was Mr. Fruity Pebbles and Multicolored Children’s Merchandise, covered in his own blood.

From there, the match is an exercise in carnage, as Lesnar absolutely brutalized Cena, with the audience very nearly believing they were about to witness someone die. It’s only until the final sequence where Super Cena’s was able to defy the odds, Rise Above Hate®, and defeat the Beast.

Many have criticized the decision to have Cena defeat Brock in Lesnar’s first match in eight years. While it was certainly foolish in the short term, ultimately, you have to give respect to Cena for letting Brock do what he did to him. In all likelihood, Cena could have refused to take such a real-life beating, but he did. That’s because John loves the Hustle®, maintains Loyalty® to the company, and commands Respect® even from the haters. WHAPADOOOOOOOOO.
