10 Times WWE Bounced Back From Adversity
8. Steroid Scandal #2
In a case of history repeating itself, Vince McMahon and WWE found themselves in the midst of a steroid scandal in 2007.
This time the matter wasn’t quite as serious as it was back during the 1994 steroid trial, but it was still something that rocked WWE and saw the promotion again under scrutiny from the press.
At that time, a Florida pharmacy was outed as being a front for steroid distribution, and several WWE stars were named as part of this bust. Contracted talents such as Kurt Angle, Batista, Edge, Chris Masters, John Morrison and Booker T were amongst names cited in this scandal. Then there was the unique case of one Ken Anderson, aka Mr. Kennedy.
Just two weeks prior to this steroid scandal hitting the press, Anderson had admitted that he'd previously used steroids before his time under WWE contract. Upon signing with the company in 2005, all such steroid use had stopped, though. Only it hadn't, for Ken was amongst those listed in this 2007 scandal.
Despite publicly defending certain wrestlers, WWE suspended Booker T – who soon left the company – and did its best to smooth all of this over by throwing out generic company lines and then ignoring the whole situation.
WWE was soon to move on from all of this, and the majority of those included in this scandal continued to work for Vince McMahon or have at least returned at some point in the ensuing years.
