Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey, and Charlotte Flair made history at WrestleMania 35, as their winner-takes-all triple threat match became the first time women main evented WrestleMania. Apart from their match, another contest the fans were excited to see was the Universal Championship match between Brock Lesnar and 2019 Royal Rumble winner Seth Rollins.

Vince McMahon's original plan was to have Lesnar and Rollins go before the main event, but the Universal title match ended up opening the show. Talking about what led to the surprising decision, former WWE writer Dave Schilling posted an update on X to reveal that Brock Lesnar convinced McMahon at the last minute to change the match into the opening contest so he could go home early.

Seth Rollins, however, shared a different perspective while talking to Stone Cold Steve Austin on the Broken Skull Sessions. Rollins recalled Lesnar saying that going before the main event would hurt both matches and convinced Vince McMahon to change the slot but didn't get the green light until an hour before the show.
